“Can I touch your butt” in Elvish.

This is so useful

No, this is not “Can I touch your butt” in Elvish. This is “Can I touch your butt?” in English, transcribed using the letters of the Elvish alphabet. There is a difference.
In Elvish, the letters of the alphabet correspond to sounds, not to words. The above text spells it out using one symbol to represent one letter of the original English, which is incorrect:
c-a-n  i  t-o-u-c-h  y-o-u-r  b-u-t-t
If you really want to spell out an English phrase using the Elvish alphabet, you would do so phonetically, which would basically equate to one symbol per phoneme (sound):
c-a-n  a-i  t-u-ch  y-o-r  b-u-t
If you actually wanted to write “Can I touch your butt?” in Elvish, one (very rough) translation would be:

Annog nin daf pladan tele ci?

Which, in Sindarin Elvish, roughly translates to, “Would you give me permission to touch your rear?”
Written in tengwar (the Elvish alphabet), it would look like this:

Sorry for the blurry quality.

damn, the lotr fandom doesnt fuck around

wow

As I am fluent in Sindarn, ^ that was completely correct

Every group has good AND bad in it.

Nobody’s saying it doesn’t, Fannish. Nobody is saying they haven’t been proud of their fandom. We all have.

Just felt a need to point it out, because there seems to be this toxic backlash brewing. Again/still. This is the 10th such post I’ve seen of late.

I realize any fandom will always has it’s crazies and it’s fandumb moments, but this whole “disgusted by your fandom” thing that has become popular?

I’m disgusted by the crazies, and the fandumbs, not the fandom. There is a difference.

When people turn to fictional characters, it’s often because they want an escape. The stories of these people shelter us from the storm of our daily lives; they save us, if only for a little while. But when we really give in, become invested, let ourselves be vulnerable, something changes. We begin to feel that we know them. It’s no longer just an escape, but part of us, something that makes us who we are.

These characters teach us that incredible adversity can be overcome. That people can love each other forever. That life can be an adventure. That magic can be real. And even if these miracles have never happened to us, we begin to go through life believing that, someday, they could.

“And I promise you that you’re important. Don’t look at me like that- in all my 900 years I’ve never met someone who wasn’t important.”

“Cheer up mate, it gets better. Look at me, I was once a little kid living under the stairs. You’ll do fine.”

“Hey. I know it seems like life sucks, that you’ve got the devil on your tail. Hell, sometimes you do. But you’re strong enough to beat him. You’ve got friends at your back and family too, and that’s what really counts in the end.”

“Don’t be silly, they’re wrong about you; of course you matter. You’ve always mattered.”

WOW CONGRATS YOU JUST MADE ME CRY OVER MY OWN POST

Fandom. We’re the family you need when you need it most, the friends you want when you reach out, and the madmen that keep the darkness at bay no matter what the darkness might say.

I’ve never been more alive, than with my fannish friends.

It starts with the characters, but for many of us it grows to be the community and our friends, as much as the fictional characters.

I like how we all ignore that Misha’s covered in blood because that’s completely normal for our cast.  Imagine what the Glee fandom thinks.

I rather don’t care what they think.

I’m just glad we have Misha and Jared and Jensen and Matt and- hell the entire SPN cast.

Because they’re awesome.

Hey guys?

Heat Exhaustion Symptoms

  • Confusion
  • Dizziness
  • Fainting
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle cramps
  • Nausea
  • Pale skin
  • Profuse sweating
  • Sunken, dark eyes from dehydration

Do I need to remind you what he looked like during this entire scene?

image

He’s sweaty, his blood circulation isn’t working well (namely, look at how pale his lips are,) and he’s got dark, sunken in eyes.  Now we’ve got a point in which he trips and almost falls for some inexplicable reason.  Well, let me ask you this.

How do you torture a frost giant?

With heat.

Whedon wouldn’t just put in clips like this for no reason.  He’s trying to show us something.  The Loki we see here in this scene is not a healthy Loki, it’s a Loki who is weak and pale and probably focused on just staying conscious—a Loki who has probably been tortured by Thanos into submission and then sent out to do his dirty work for him, that way Thanos will never get the blame.  Loki is just the puppet in the grand master scheme of things.  Thanos is using him.

The Loki we see in Thor is radically different from the Loki we see in The Avengers.  Sure, post-Thor, Loki is emotionally unstable, and maybe a little nuts, but he wasn’t a murderer.  The only reason he went after Jotunheim is because he was having identity issues.  Murder wasn’t something that was normal in his repertoire, yet we see him doing it frequently in The Avengers. The Loki we see at the end of Thor doesn’t want to live, let alone take over an entire realm that he had no interest in before. Something drastic must have happened between the two movies to have made Loki have such a huge character change.

It’s said that Thanos caught/rescued Loki after he fell from the Bifrost.  Well, what did he do after that?  Thanos is known for having telepathic powers, and since he had to have caught Loki knowing who he was and how strong he was, he likely broke into Loki’s mind to find out all of his fears and weaknesses.  And once he found out all of Loki’s darkest secrets, it was easy to break him.  He and the Chitauri took the Loki we saw in Thor and tortured and corrupted him until he was warped into their own personal demigod, ready to do their bidding.  Why do you think Loki spouts off all these quotes about how “Freedom is life’s great lie,” and “In the end, you will always kneel”?  He’s projecting.

So, when he trips?  That’s the aftershocks of torture.  That’s a Loki, weakened and struggling to stay upright, pushing forward through the pain because, otherwise?

“You will long for something as sweet as pain.”

He has to keep going because the alternative isn’t a question.

i actually started crying ok whoever made this is a genius

/casually vomits because you don’t understand

Many of us were excluded, lonely and depressed before we joined any fandoms. We found refuge in the stories and comfort in the characters. We found people with similar interests and gained friends who understood and sympathized with us. When the stories hurt us we found solace in the fact that we are not alone in feeling this way. In many ways to many people these stories saved our lives. Some might have been pointing towards suicide, but maybe the Doctor and his story stopped some. That’s what matters, because we owe these stories our life. We owe it to the Doctor, the Winchesters, the Avengers and whatever fandom you might be in. They’re always there and always will be even when all others abandon us. I can honestly say that I was in deep depression before I started watching Doctor Who and the story very much pulled me from that place and changed who I am, made me who I am today. The 14,000 notes on this post show that I am not alone and none of us are.

Unhealthy is to reblog skinny and tanned girls like it’s a religion

Unhealthy is to think depressed people have no reasons to be like that because they’re not starving

Unhealthy is to make people think they are not worth it because they’re either too fat or to skinny, or because they don’t dress fashionably so therefore they’re considered “ugly”

Unhealthy is to go through this unbelievably hard life without a single person caring about you

Unhealthyis to make fun of other people choices

Unhealthyis someone commenting on something they don’t understand, and worse, something they don’t want to understand

So next time think about what you’re doing before you open your mouth to say something so ignorant like that.

HEAR HEAR

Fucking. THIS.

Fandom saves LIVES, not just in preventing suicides, it helps people LIVE. They see adventures, live them vicariously, and then they want to talk about them, connect, even if the thought of connecting scares them they can find others to talk to in fandom, and connect over time.

It helps, and heals, in a way no amount of therapy alone can provide.
